A Barrow County woman reportedly died Monday from injuries she sustained in a traffic collision in Athens two weeks ago.
According to Athens-Clarke County police, the three-vehicle collision occurred April 26 on Atlanta Highway near Fowler Mill Road.
Involved in the crash were a Ford Edge, operated by Martha Wood, 72, of Winder, GA, a Honda Civic, and a GMC Acadia.
Police said an investigation determined that that Wood’s vehicle left its lane of travel, side-swiped the Honda Civic, and collided head-on with the Acadia.
Wood was seriously injured and transported by National EMS to a local hospital, where she succumbed to those injuries on Monday.
The occupants of the Honda Civic were not injured, police said, and the driver of the GMC Acadia was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police noted the incident was the 10th fatal vehicle crash this year in Athens-Clarke County.
