A Georgia State University student was arrested last week for allegedly driving a motorcycle at nearly three times the posted speed limit.

A police officer reported that he was monitoring traffic on South Milledge Avenue at about 1:30a.m. May 16 when 21- year-old Sachin Vishnoi zipped past on a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja at an estimated speed of over 90 mph.

The officer chased after and stopped the biker upon catching up over a mile down the road, which has a posted speed limit of 35 mph.

The GSU student claimed to not know the reason for the traffic stop during a “very argumentative” exchange with the officer.

He “stated that the reason he was speeding was because his speedometer wasn’t showing his speed,” the officer said in his report. “Vishnoi also stated that he estimated he was traveling at 35 mph and at ‘his pace.’”

The student was arrested for reckless driving and his motorcycle was removed from the scene on a tow truck.
