A man in Madison County last week aggressively used a piece of construction machinery during an argument with his girlfriend.

According to a sheriff’s office report, he used a skid-steer loader to lift the woman’s car with her still inside and spin around in circles before setting the vehicle back down.

The woman was not injured.

The incident happened June 3 on the man’s Macedonia Church Road property in Danielsville.

The woman explained to deputies that she and the man had been having “a tough go at it” lately, and he had sent her a bouquet of flowers in an attempt “to win back her heart.”

She went to his home “to express gratitude” for the flowers, but also to break off relations with him.

That led to the argument in which the man used his construction vehicle to lift the car. At one point, after the woman exited her car, she was nearly struck by the skid-steer loader.

According to the sheriff’s report, the woman recorded the incident with her cellphone, and a deputy who reviewed it noted that the car’s undercarriage could be heard being damaged as it was being lifted, with the man and woman screaming at other in the background. The woman reportedly fled to a location a mile away on Sandy Creek Road to call 911.

The sheriff’s incident report indicated that the man faced several criminal charges, including assault and hijacking a motor vehicle, but his girlfriend didn’t want to prosecute.
