Lawrenceville Police Officer Killed in Off-Duty Traffic Accident

(May 30, 2026; 08:00AM) It is with profound sadness that the Lawrenceville Police Department announces the passing of Officer Travis Clarke, who was killed in a traffic accident on Friday, May 29, 2026. The accident which is being investigated by the Gwinnett County Police Department occurred while off-duty.

Officer Clarke joined the Lawrenceville Police Department in November 2025 and was assigned to City Hall where he interacted daily with the public and city employees across multiple departments. In his time with the police department, he made a lasting impact on those around him through his infectious smile, positive attitude, and unwavering passion for law enforcement.

Officer Clarke enjoyed serving his community and looked forward to continuing to grow and advance his career. His loss is being felt not only throughout the Police Department, but across the entire City of Lawrenceville family. He was a valued colleague, trusted friend, and dedicated public servant whose presence will be deeply missed.

We ask the community to keep Officer Clarke's family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We also ask that you remember the entire City of Lawrenceville family as we mourn the loss of one of our own.
