Police officers injured rescuing residents from Winder apartment complex fire

The following information was provided to CCN by Winder Fire Chief Matt Whiting:

Winder Fire was dispatched to a possible apartment fire at 284 Apperson Drive at 1:14 this afternoon. On arrival of Fire units a  Winder Police Officer and a Barrow County Sheriff’s deputy were removing the occupants including 3 small children out of the apartment. Two children and both law enforcement officers were transport for smoke inhalation. The fire was contained to the room of origin.
