Top college football QB transfer’s surprising commitment to Georgia

Athlon Sports

The Georgia Bulldogs are loaded at just about every position, but one team can never have enough weapons apparently.

On Monday, they ended up landing UNLV quarterback transfer Jayden Maiava who led the Rebels to one of their most successful seasons in program history as a freshman. Maiava led the Rebels to just their third 9-win season in program history, and shocked the college football world when he not only decided to transfer, but transfer to a program that has a pretty loaded quarterback room as it is.

Maiava, who was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year this season after throwing for 3,085 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, will now be in a quarterback room that returns Carson Beck, former four-star Gunnar Stockon, and is adding four-star Ryan Puglisi. The next season is expected to be Beck's final year, so this could be a move for Maiava to compete for the starting role in 2025.

Aside from considering Georgia, he also visited USC, and was at one point viewed as an option for Miami.
