Two dead in Barrow County triple shooting

Two people reportedly are dead in a shooting that occurred this morning in a home in Barrow County,

According to authorities, deputies at 5:42 a.m. responded to 843 Kendall Park Drive in reference to a 911 call reporting that several people inside the home had been shot.

Upon their arrival, the deputies discovered a 66-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband dead from gunshot wounds, the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said.

The person who made the call to 911 had also been shot and transported to an area hospital.

Sheriff Jud Smith said that the surviving victim was a 35-year-old man who lived at the residence and was either a son of the deceased couple or was their stepson.

Although the surviving victim was hospitalized, Smith said his injuries were not life threatening.

"When we are able to speak with him, that will hopefully give us some answers about what happened," Smith said.

The sheriff's said that investigators believe that the victims knew who shot them and that the incident was not a random event.

The investigation is continuing and more details will be released as they become available, the agency said.
