The woman who crashed her car into the Alps Road Kroger Tuesday morning claims to have no memory of the incident that injured several employees and shoppers.

Police said that Lonneshia Appling had been in her car outside of the supermarket for several minutes before it sudden accelerated and crashed into a self checkout area, where an employee got pinned beneath the vehicle and suffered a fractured skull and broken arm.

“I don’t remember punching the gas,” Appling reportedly said in a phone interview with 11Alive In Atlanta.

Witnesses described Appling as being hysterical when she was pulled from her car and repeatedly said, “He ruined my life.”

One employee told CCN that he heard Appling claiming to have had a heart attack.

Police said that she was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released,

According to 11Alive, Appling said she had been battling a cold that morning, and was on her way to a new job.

“I was supposed to be going to train at this job and I didn’t want to be up there stuffy and all that stuff,” she said. “So I remember I took some Mucinex, Theraflu — a combination of medication.”

Appling also addressed speculation that crashing into Kroger might have been an intentional act.

“I’m a very sweet person, despite my criminal history. I’ve done shoplifting and stuff, but I’ve never harmed anyone,” she told the television station, “If I could take that day back, it would have been me instead of them people hurt.”

However, Appling is a career criminal who has served prison time and did intentionally hurt people on at least one occasion.

During one of her many shoplifting incidents, police said that she punched, spit at and pepper sprayed employees at a Piggly Wiggly food store in Athens..

Police once had to provide extra patrols for the home of one of their detectives after Appling allegedly made threats against him and his family.

Police would not comment on the Kroger crash because it’s an open investigation.
