Fire and police units currently are at the scene of where a body was discovered in the North Oconee River.
The body reportedly was spotted by someone who was walking on the North Avenue bridge and happened to see it in the water.
The body was that of an older male of an undetermined race.
"Water decomposition makes it hard to identify." Athens-Clarke County police Lt. Jody Thompson said.
Personnel from the Fire & Emergency Services Department used a boat to recover the body, which was then taken custody of by the county coroner while attempts to determine an identity continued.
RIP old friend. Whoever you are.
