A Watkinsville man was recently arrested for allegedly driving a lawn mower while drunk.
A deputy on April 30 stopped 64-year-old Willie Laguines upon seeing him riding a lawn mower westbound on Highway 186 near Payne Road, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy reportedly had seen the man holding a black can to his mouth and steering the mower off the road.
When asked why he was on the road, Laguines reportedly said he was on his way home from a Golden Pantry.
According to the sheriff’s office, Laguines had an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and beer cans were in a bag by his feet.
He reportedly admitted to having drunk a can of beer prior to being stopped by the deputy.
The man also said that he was once hit by car when riding his mower on the road.
Laguines was arrested for DUI and cited for a low-speed vehicle violation, and then booked into the county jail.
Apparently he didn't know when to shut up. lol
