A 25-year-old man from Madison County was arrested Friday night after he reportedly shot a gun at police officers in Athens and then led officers on a vehicle chase.
According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the officers were on patrol at tBethel Homes apartments on Hickman Drive where they saw that Walter Mcaguire of Colbert had a gun,
When attempting to investigate, McGuire reportedly got into a car and fired the gun, with at least one officer returning fire.
The car then sped off, and McGuire was arrested after a pursuit, police said.
No injuries were reported from the apparent exchange of gunfire.
McGuire was booked into the Clarke County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.
So why did they go after him in the first place? It’s perfectly legal to carry a gun in this state. I don’t see police going into predominantly white neighborhoods and going after people open carrying. ACAB.
