A 16-year-old girl who was reported missing in Gwinnett County three months ago had been living in Athens area homeless camps,
Police recently spoke to the girl after she appeared at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center for an undisclosed reason.
Originally from McDonough In Henry County, the girl told police that she ran away from a group home in Gwinnett because her social worker “was not listening to her when she would complain about how she was being treated” at the home.
She also complained to police that she had seen the social worker only once.
The girl had been in touch with her mother “to help her get off the streets,” according to a police report, which noted that she appeared to be in good health.
