Police responded to Whataburger on U.S. Highway 29 North at 1:15 a.m. Friday on an employee’s report that a customer pointed a gun at a homeless man in the drive-thru window area.
Upon their arrival, officers were told by 60-year-old Ronald Whitehead that he was walking around a pickup truck in line at the drive-thru when the black male driver got out, struck him in the arm and said, “You can’t be out here making these girls uncomfortable.”
Whitehead said after they exchanged words, the other man grabbed a pistol from truck and pointed it at him, according to police.
The gunman had left by the time police arrived.
He was only described as wearing a do-rag, and driving a black Dodge Ram pickup that displayed a partial Georgia tag SAX.
Whitehead gave as his address the Sparrow’s Nest ministry on Prince Avenue.
