Madelynn Peacock, a 23-year-old University of Georgia student, was recently arrested after she seriously injured her girlfriend during a domestic violence altercation at a home in Athens.

The assault occurred the afternoon of May 8 during a dispute at the home of the victim’s brother on Little Oconee Street.

Police said they learned about the incident when the victim, who also attends UGA, notified them that she was at St. Mary’s Hospital and being treated for a severe head injury.

The 24-year-old student from Atlanta told police that she and Peacock had been arguing all that morning when things turned physical on the back porch of the residence and Peacock threw a flowerpot with a plant still in lit at her. The concrete planter struck the back of the victim’s head and caused a bloody injury, according to police.

Peacock was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, and she was released from jail the following day, upon posting $1,500 bail.

A Magistrate Court judge made bail conditional on her having no contact with the victim and he barred her from returning to the Little Oak Street residence,

Any violation big his order could result in additional criminal charges, including aggravated stalking, the judge warned.
