Caitlin Monteverde recently found herself in jail because that’s where police believed was the safest place for her to be.

She was brought to the attention of police at around midnight May 16th by someone who called 911 to report seeing her lying on the ground in a parking lot downtown with a man attempting to move her.

When a pair of police officers were trying to find out what was happening, the 32-year-old Athens woman reportedly rolled around, tried to undress and made sexual advances toward them.

The officers then tried to determine the level of her intoxication by asking some basic questions, according to a police report, but Monteverde was unable to name the president, say how many quarters make a dollar, or identify the town she was in.

When her male companion learned that EMS was on its way to check on her, police said he seemed concerned that he might be trouble.

“Next time I’ll stay away from the ones that look like fun,” he reportedly remarked and left the scene.

After the ambulance arrived, the woman pushed EMTs who tried to help.

“Caitlin was written a citation for public intoxication and transported to the Clarke County Jail where she could be monitored by the jail nurse,” the police report states. “After observing Caitlin’s behavior, no one on the scene believed she could have gotten home in a safe manner.”
